Inspirational Women Profile: Hawaz Abdul Hadi

The teacher and activist Hawaz Abdul Hadi was born in Nablus in 1927, she studied at Al Aishiya school and then completed her secondary education in the Dar Al-Malamat School in Jerusalem. She graduated from Birzeit University in 1981, recieving a BA in Arabic Language with honours.

 

In addition to her work as a teacher, she became involved in social activitism and worked with charitiable organisations from early on in her career. She held the presidency of the Arab Women Union, and was the head of the Northern Branch of the General Union of Palestinian Women. She participated in many conferences including the Geneva International Conference on Palestine in 1990 and the Founding Conference of the General Federation of Palestinian Women in 1965. She died at the age of 90 years after a lifetime of success.
