Born in Jerusalem in 1923, Fatima Mousa Al Baderi became one of the most loved voices on Palestinian Radio.

Baderi completed her education at the “Dar al Mualamet” institution in Jerusalem, graduating in 1941 before beginning her career in the broadcasting industry.

She joined the “hunna al Quds” Radio Station in 1946, working as a broadcaster and producer. When the station moved to Ramallah, she continued her career there as part of the first Palestinian Radio team.

Baderi and her husband begun to perform a number of theatre and radio plays, a step which proved controversial, and was not met with a positive reception by family members.

Baderi’s calm and compassionate voice endeared her to both old and young and she became especially known for her cultural knowledge.

Her programs continued through the end of the British Mandate and to the conclusion of the Nakba in 1948.

At different times throughout her career she collaborated with her husband to work on a number of different radio stations including Syrian, Jordanian and German stations.  She also worked as an Arabic Language teacher, a librarian at “Dar al Mualamet” and as an employee of the Ramallah Relief Agency and the Amman Agency (1965-1971) and then as a librarian at the Jordanian University in Amman (1978-1983).

Al Baderi passed away in 2009 after a career filled with achievements.
