Update: Afghan Robotics team Granted Visas

The talented group of Afghan School girls who were previously denied visas to compete in a US based robotics competition have now, finally, been granted visas.

The US Homeland Security Department spokesman David Lapan says that the visa approval is as a result of a request by the State Department, which has been attributed to the US President Donald Trump.  

Ivanka Trump, advisor and daughter of the president, tweeted a welcome to the Afghan girls saying:

“ I look forward to welcoming this brilliant team of Afghan girls, and their competitors, to Washington DC next week! #WomenInSTEM

"We were not a terrorist group to go to America and scare people," said 14-year-old Fatema Ghaderyan "We just wanted to show the power and skills of Afghan girls to Americans."
