Jordan commits 25 Million Dinar to Increasing Female Participation in the Work Force

The Executive Development Program issued by the Jordanian Ministry of Development and International Cooperation has highlighted the limited economic participation of women, high rates of female unemployment and regional disparity as one of the most significant issues facing the kingdom of Jordan.

The Jordanian Women's Solidarity Institute, "Solidarity", indicates that one of the main objectives of the Executive Development Program is to achieve sustainable human development based on empowerment and equal opportunity in education, the promotion and development of the labor force, empowerment through skills and knowledge, the provision of decent work opportunities, especially for young people and women, leading to higher productivity and lower unemployment rates at the national and local levels.

The program aims to raise the proportion of women in the labor force to reach 19% in 2018 from the 12.6% recorded in 2014, and raise the proportion of women's employment in the private sector to 14.4% (11.7% in 2014), and the proportion of the total workers across sectors to 56.5% (45.9% in 2014) and to maintain the proportion of female workers among total job seekers registered at the Ministry of Labor annually at 24% (24% in 2014), and increase the number of workers in production up to 1500 (865 in 2014).
