Comic strip “You Should Have Asked” Illustrates the Struggle to Achieve an Equal Workload in the Home
Sharing chores can be harder than you think
The French comic artist and feminist Emma draws a cartoon “You should have asked”, which perfectly describes the continuing inequality in the home and illustrates the ‘mental load’ that men put on women when they expect their partner to know what needs to be done and only do things themselves when told what to do. Even though many men are taking on responsibilities in the home, women are still often expected to take on the role of “manager of the house” regardless of their other responsibilities or work.
