UN WOMEN: Empowerment of Arab women as a strategy for peace

RAMALLAH Nisaa FM: In an interview with Nisaa FM, Regional director of UN WOMEN in the Arab States Mohammad Naciri highlighted the importance of confronting the challenges and difficulties faced by Arab women. This is particularly in the light of the conflicts and wars they experience, he added.

Naciri, who has worked for more than 20 years in the UN, stated that they are working with civil society organizations and governments of Arab countries in order to find a realistic strategy to solve the problems of Arab women  which takes into consideration the political and economic crises facing the region.

He noted that the they are working on strengthening the role of Arab women in the establishment of peace and security, and encourages them to take a stance on the conflicts and lay the foundations for the process to overcome them.

Naciri further stated that the authority is working to support and empower Arab women in political areas by encouraging them to engage in politics and the upcoming elections.
