February 2011 has been a significant month for 96 NISAA FM; it witnessed the beginning of the Noon Programme “NISAA Break” presented by renowned Radio personality Ms Alaa Shatara. What makes “NISAA -Break” special , is its intense focus on issues related to women. The segment “NISAA & Rights” tackles women rights with regard to education, marriage, work, child custody and others. On a lighter note the segment “Only NISAA” highlights recipes of Palestinian traditional cuisine, beauty tips, motherhood and physiological changes in women.
|
Further, 96 NISAA FM began its first media campaign with the installation of a huge billboard on Rukab Street in the center of Ramallah. The billboard will remain there for a minimum of one month to create awareness of the station. Plans are to expand the campaign to include other cities and towns in the West Bank.
Many local companies and organizations are approaching 96 NISAA FM for either sponsorship or introduction of new programmes. On the Morning Show “Qahwa Mazboot” the largest home appliances retail chain “ Sbitany Home” is sponsoring the segment “Baytkom” in which listeners are given the chance, twice - weekly to win a prize. The show has proven popular with a noted increase in the number of callers. We also anticipate cooperating with various international and humanitarian organizations to support their mandates and disseminate their mission and work on women and social welfare over our airwaves.
While 96 NISAA FM has concentrated on empowering women in the media, we cannot sideline the significant role of our male colleagues at the station. As the Music and Production Manager, Yazan has been outstanding in the selection of the Arabic and English songs, one of the many attributes of the success of NISAA FM is the music selection which has a popular appeal. Mohammad and Ashraf have been actively involved in the upgrade of the technical aspects and ensuring that 96 NISAA FM is heard all over the West Bank especially with our new frequency in the North 96.2 FM.
We aspire to remain an important platform for all Palestinian women who wish to have their voice heard!
